How much liquor for a wedding?

How much liquor do you need for a wedding reception?

Can we talk?

Strapless Wedding Gowns
I know. I know. Strapless gowns are all the rage. But if you're carrying a few extra pounds, please think long and hard before you buy that strapless gown. Last week I caught a rerun of an episode of "Say Yes to the Dress." The bride thought she looked delicious in a strapless gown, and none of her friends were kind enough to tell her that fat had blooped out all over the top of that dress.
I know the trend is to look sexy in your bridal gown rather than virginal, and if you are thin as a rail this style dress may work for you. Maybe I'm ultra sensitive to what looks good on plus sized women (see my other blog at http://plussizeoptions.blogspot.com/), but I find it hard to believe that these curvy ladies think they look good in strapless bridal gowns. If you are helping a curvy bride choose a gown, please be honest about what looks good and what doesn't!

Reception food

Cherry Tomatoes Stuffed with Chicken Salad
If you are making your own food for the wedding reception--or better yet--having friends help with the food, here's an idea for a quick and easy dish. I've served this at receptions, and received rave reviews. It's colorful and oh so easy.
Simply slice off the top of the cherry tomatoes and scoop out the seeds. A teaspoon or a melon baller will work nicely. Then stuff the tomatoes with chicken salad. You can make your own chicken salad, but if you're pressed for time you can buy prepared chicken salad. Remember that chicken salad MUST be kept cold, so place your dish atop a bowl or platter of ice.
This is a great summertime addition to your reception table!

Moon Pie Wedding Favors

I can't take credit for this idea (and unfortunately I don't remember where I saw it), but I think it's a great idea to share in the very first post of Southern Bridal Blog.

Is there anything more representative of "The South" than moon pies and RC Colas? If you're a southern bride looking to add a bit of whimsy to your reception, consider moon pie wedding favors.

The ones I saw had the newlywed's initial piped in white icing on the moon pie and individually wrapped and placed on the reception tables. This idea is sure to bring a smile to your guests!
